This green smoothie has become a staple in my home. It’s wonderful to start the day with or have it in the afternoon for a nice boost of nutrients and energy.

Also, smoothies are a great way to cut on caffeine. And even if you never cook or don’t know how to use an oven, you can still make a green smoothie without a problem.

I might not use the same ingredients every time, but as long as I have spinach or chard, celery and cilantro, and some fruits, I am pretty much all set for a blender action.

What’s fun about a green smoothie, or any smoothie for that matter, is that you don’t need an exact recipe! You can make a different blend every day. You can substitute any ingredient for whatever you want or have on hand. But I have to be honest sometimes they don’t turn out as good as I expect. So by now, I know pretty much what I need to get a nice-tasting smoothie. And this is one of them.

Of course, you won’t have access to certain fruits or veggies all year round, which means you’re going to have to substitute. But that’s the beauty of it, using fruits and veggies that are in season, plus you are not going to get bored with the same taste every time.

For this green smoothie, I decided to use strawberries since they are in season. If you don’t have fresh, you can use frozen strawberries.

Now if you don’t have strawberries to add to your green smoothie, don’t panic. You can substitute with apples, pineapples, blueberries, raspberries, or anything you like. Just keep in mind that there will be a slight difference in taste.

I hope you’ll enjoy this recipe and tell me what your favorite smoothie is.
